Candy Engstler will never forget July 20, 2021, when she received two calls that changed her life.
Candy Engstler, daughter of Jim and Wanda Wold, was awakened very early by a call. “I received a call from the nursing home around 4 a.m. They said that my mother had passed away,” she said.
Candy and her sister hurried to Garner’s nursing home to be with their father after the death of his wife, their mother. The father crossed his arms and said, “Thank you, Jesus. Thank you for everything, please take me too. I want to be with my wife.”
A few hours later, his “wish” was granted. “Around 7 a.m., I received another call and was informed about my father’s passing,” Engstler said. She mentioned that her mother had been battling Alzheimer’s for many years, and her father had only minor health issues.
Losing her 96-year-old mother and 94-year-old father on the same day was the hardest for her, but Mrs. Engstler finds comfort in the fact that her parents spent a wonderful life together for 73 years, based on love and faith.
