“I’ve never seen anything like it in my life!”
While Emma James was mowing the grass in front of the house with a lawnmower, she discovered a hole in the ground. As the day went by, the well grew larger and larger until it reached a depth of 2 meters. What was even stranger was the fact that there were some rusty steps inside!
Although the well is now not big enough for a man to climb inside, authorities believe that the tunnel these people discovered in their yard leads to a canal that was covered over 35 years ago.
The two contacted the company that built the house in 1984, but could not tell them where the tunnel led. This is what Emma says: “It’s very strange that there are steps going down but we don’t know where and there is no cover over them. Below there is cement and rusty metal. “We just want someone to come and tell us what it is, I don’t want to leave a pit like that in my yard.”
Finally, the local council confirmed to the two that the tunnel leads to a drain that has been covered in rum for 30 years, but the two spouses are not convinced, not until someone comes to check. Despite all the assurances from the authorities, no one is sending anyone to really check what’s going on with her.
Spouses hope that another pit does not appear, or that someone falls into it. Although they just didn’t want to cover it, before they found out what was wrong with it, they had to use signs to prevent people from falling there.
