Water is necessary for any type of plant, as it enables its vital functions. In the case of orchids, it should be noted that they should be administered in the right amount and frequency. The substrate of an orchid should always be moist. Never overwater to avoid water stagnation and root rot.
Naturally, with specific fertilizers and targeted care, beautiful orchids can be cultivated. To achieve beautiful blooms and always have healthy orchids, a few simple procedures can be implemented.
Orchids in Bloom Orchids typically bloom once a year, but thanks to their elegant buds, the flowering period lasts a long time. In general, the flowering of orchids is related to several factors. To promote the flowering of this beautiful tropical plant, the ideal temperature to keep it ranges between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius.
An orchid needs many hours of light, preferably filtered through a curtain in the house. Depending on the orchid species, it is essential to provide the right amount of light, humidity, and fertilizer.
There are certain types of orchids, such as the famous Phalaenopsis or butterfly orchid, whose flowers last from three to five months. After flowering, to give rise to new buds and flowers, it is sufficient to cut the dry branches and stems where the nodes are empty.
Procedure to Increase Branches and Plants The first thing to do to always have flowering orchids, with shoots and branches, is to take a garlic clove and cut it into small pieces. The chopped garlic should then be placed in a glass container with about 300 ml of water. After closing the container with a cap, let the garlic soak for about 4 hours.
During this time, take an egg, make a small hole at one end, empty it, and make another hole on the opposite side. The emptied eggshell should be carefully washed with water. At this stage, simply take an orchid branch and make a diagonal cut at one end to facilitate water absorption.
After filtering the water with garlic, it must be transferred to a glass container. The orchid stem should be immersed in filtered garlic water for about twenty minutes. After this time, the branch should be cleaned with cotton. Then, you need to take some moss, which should be moistened with garlic water and then squeezed out. After filling the eggshell with moss, simply insert the orchid branch.
To complete, you need to take a small plastic bottle, cut off the neck of the bottle to make another container. After placing the bottle neck at the bottom of the plastic container, place the eggshell with the orchid. After adding water, you need to close the container with the orchid stem in the eggshell.
After four weeks, you can proceed to change the water, and after about two months, you will get new leaves and healthy roots. The new orchid plant can finally be transferred to a transparent vase with a bit of soil.
