Magazines have been covering the topic of Celine Dion’s health since the singer appears to have lost a significant amount of weight. Her fans shared her concerns and said that she no longer resembles her old self.
She, on the other hand, said she should be left alone. Speaking to The Sun recently, the Canadian-born singer sent a message to those who criticized her looks:
“If I like it, I don’t want to talk about it. Do not worry. Don’t take a photo. If you like it, I’ll be there. If you don’t, leave me alone.”
However, it was recently reported by a representative of hers that Dion is suffering from muscle spasms, which is affecting her ability to perform on stage.
As a result, along with the pandemic affecting the course of many people’s lives, Dion was forced to cancel several concert dates in Las Vegas, first in November last year and then from January 19 to February 5, 2022.
“Celine is experiencing severe and persistent muscle spasms that prevent her from performing,” the statement said.
“Her medical team continues to assess and treat her. However, the symptoms she is experiencing prohibit her from participating in the ongoing rehearsals for the new show.”
The singer herself took to Instagram to share her heartbreak over the delayed concert dates and the health issues she has experienced.
“Hello everyone. I’m sorry it took me so long to reach you. “I miss you all so much and I can’t wait to get on stage and talk to you in person,” Dion said in the video.
“As you know, I’ve always been an open book and I wasn’t ready to say anything before, but now I’m ready. I’ve been struggling with health issues for a long time and it’s been really difficult for me to face these challenges and talk about everything I’ve been through.
“I was recently diagnosed with a very rare neurological condition called stiff person syndrome, which affects around one in a million people.
While we are still learning about this rare condition, we now know that this is what caused all the cramps I was having. Unfortunately, these cramps affect every aspect of my daily life, sometimes causing difficulty walking and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing like I’m used to.”
“I’m working hard every day with my sports medicine doctor to rebuild my strength and performance, but I have to admit it’s been a struggle,” she said. “All I can do is sing. It’s what I’ve done all my life and it’s what I love doing most.
“I miss you so much. I miss seeing you all, being on stage and performing for you. “I always give a hundred percent when I do my shows, but my condition now allows me to give this to you now,” she continued.
Dion concluded the video by saying, “I want to thank you so much for your encouraging wishes and your love and support on my social media. That means a lot to me.
“Take care. Be healthy. I love you so much and I really hope I can see you again soon.”
Dion has a history with Las Vegas, the place where she feels at home. Her history with Sin City dates back to 2003, when she began a four-year residency in Las Vegas that became a massive success, grossing over $385 million.
A few years later, Dion returned to the Las Vegas stage for a residency at Caesar’s Palace and broke the world record with her 1,141 performances, according to Billboard.
At the same time, it holds the records for the two best-selling residences of all time.
With the health issues she faced, Dion announced her tour would begin in May 2022, but the shows have now been pushed back even further. At the same time, she delayed her stay in Las Vegas.
Her two previous Las Vegas residences alone brought in $680 million. Her net worth is said to be around $800 million – and in 2019 she earned $37 million.
Not being on stage affected the singer’s income as she reportedly lost around $70 million in earnings based on her Celine Residency Show earnings.
She is also happy that she was able to be with her children more in her free time.
