Woman uses paint and stain to turn 4 mismatched “dumpster chairs” into beautiful decor

POZYTYWNE HISTORIE

Meet Deidre Gourlay, the mastermind behind the YouTube channel “Our Upcycled Life.”

In 2020, Deidre started this channel to share her pop-up camper project, and guess what?

His simple teaching style and ability to turn trash into treasure have earned him over 20 million views and more than 250,000 subscribers.

Yes, she is a real-life fairy godmother of discarded furniture!

In her latest video, she takes chairs found in the dumpster and gives them a fabulous makeover.

Four unique projects, each giving new life to what was once considered trash.
What could be better?

This is where Deidre’s passion for rescuing and revitalizing old furniture really shines.

First up, we have a vintage kitchen chair from the 50s or 60s – think old grandma’s kitchen vibes.

This chair had a sturdy metal frame but the seat and steps were damaged.
Deidre worked her magic removing the cracked vinyl and deteriorated wood, keeping that solid metal frame intact.

He found a piece of pine at the dump, traced, cut and replaced the seat and steps.

After some sanding and painting, he used a homemade coffee stain on the wood and finished it off with a graphic transfer on the seat.

The result? A charming rustic farmhouse chair that would make Grandma proud.

Throughout the video, Deidre’s love for finding free materials shines through.

She talks about how getting wood from the landfill saves money and adds unique character to her projects.
This ingenuity is at the heart of upcycling – transforming discarded items into beautiful, functional pieces without buying new materials.
