These fifth graders put on a hilarious performance at their school’s talent show.

POZYTYWNE HISTORIE

Whether they are singing, dancing, or showing off some other skill, it is wonderful to see students showcase their talents in school performances.

While it’s fair to say that every competitor deserves praise for standing up to their peers and giving it their best shot, every now and then you see a performance that truly stands out, displaying creativity that transcends the age of the competitors.

In 2017, four fifth-graders from New Braunfels Christian Academy in Texas gave a performance like this during the Elementary Talent Show. To keep the performance a secret until the end, the students began by covering themselves with a black cloth.

The boys’ baby costumes, complete with tiny prosthetic legs they could move with their arms, were revealed when the fabric was pulled aside. There was an immediate burst of laughter from the crowd, and that was just the beginning.

What followed was even better received by the crowd: the boys danced imaginatively and hilariously to various popular songs while wearing the costumes. The boys enthusiastically imitated and danced to the chorus of Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” as the opening song.

“Kung Fu Fighting” by Carl Douglas was a crowd favorite; they clapped and cheered as the four dancers showed off their kung fu moves in costume.

Of course, this mischievous quartet isn’t the only group of fifth-graders to dazzle at a talent show—in fact, eight of them did the same at Porter Elementary in 2014.

The students performed a synchronized swimming routine to classical music on a sheet of blue plastic that served as a makeshift pool. Upon completion, the eight students were rewarded with well-deserved cheers and applause from the enthusiastic audience.

These two films, which have amassed over 30 million views, demonstrate the wealth of creativity and skill on display at school talent shows.

Keeping an audience engaged for even five minutes is no small feat, and not everyone possesses the necessary skills. However, these young people managed it effortlessly.
