Last April was cloudy and cold. On a rainy day, a puppy suddenly appeared in our garden. The baby was left in a box in the yard, wet and shivering from the cold. I felt sorry for the child, but I could only feed it. My daughter and grandson came to visit, a 4-month-old baby and an unfamiliar dog were not the best combination. An older neighbor helped us, agreeing to take the dog and provide him with a warm place in the barn.
We agreed with the neighbor that the puppy would stay with him for a week, then we would drive to the city and pick up the dog on the way to the shelter. A week later, we came for the puppy, but Nikolai Yuryevich refused to give him up. During that time, the lonely retiree became so attached to the animal that he decided to keep it. This turn of events made me happy. The puppy has a home, and our neighbor has good company. Nikolai Yuryevich and the dog quickly became best friends. The dog was named Dick, and soon a sturdy doghouse was built in the neighbor’s yard, large enough to accommodate a couple of adult dogs. Dick responded to his master’s care with selfless love.
